Key For You: How To Find God’s Direction in Your Particular Circumstance
Every situation of an unfaithful spouse has some surprisingly similar elements, and yet each one is also alarmingly unique.
Just like when it comes to the educational choices for our children, there are options. It is not a “one-size fits all” blueprint when your husband suddenly exits, except in the general terms of how we as Christians are called to forgive, and to worship, and to believe God.
I know of some women who sought the Lord in this trial, and their first priority was safety for their children, for others it was supernatural faithfulness to an unfaithful spouse, and for others it was more of a wait and see moment.
God does promise He has a plan for each one of us (Jeremiah 29:11).
Finding out step-by-step what His plan is means leaning into Him and into the Bible. It means running to Him instead of from Him. It is about positioning yourself so that you can hear Him. It is about a living and real relationship with God where He gives you wisdom and shows you what to do.
Bill Johnson says that his life is one of living from day-to-day by the promises of God. He reads the Bible until God talks. Stability for him comes by always getting a word from God when there is a situation or a problem. “Fight the fight with the promises that God has given to you.”
I find this to be true also. Each day I pray first and then spend time meditating on Scripture. I read sometimes a lot, but often times just a little, dwelling on just a few words or one Biblical story or concept a (such as light) at a time. Eventually one thing in particular speaks to my heart and I then carry direction for what to do next in my special circumstance that God knows all about.
The harassment comes when there is comparison. It is when you or others focus “on what they did,” instead of what is God’s promise to you from the Bible for this particular day in this particular crisis.
Jeremiah 29:13 says that when you seek Him with all your heart, He will be found by you. He is faithful.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
